We have a kid(he's a juinor)on our xc and track teams who is insanely talented. About halfway through the season he beat some very talented runners at a prestigious invite. Two of whom would go on to be all Americans at NXN Nationals. He got injured a few weeks later and did not truly recover until after xc was over. As a freshman he ran a sub 10:00 two mile and as a sophomore he ran a 4:24 mile. He did all this without running in the winter and only running for two weeks in the summer. During the season he sandbags workouts whenever he can get away with it. He is extremely competitive when it comes to racing, but just doesn't always want to put the work in in practice. Any ideas on how to motivate him.
