I am amazed at how little knowledge of the sport people that are under 40 have. I think there should be a basic history test to be able to post.

It is true that young people ignore Lydiard concepts, but then when I was their age it was hard to find books on the subject. Now he is misquoted all over the place!

Some of us just want to run fast and don't care about the human interest side. In my mind, "knowledge of the sport" isn't about knowing history. It is about understanding training and racing.
