Shouldn't America be celebrating this more?
American Lowell Bailey won the World Champs for Biathlon, in the Individual. That's the event where 1 minute is added on for every miss.
The heart rate goes up while you're skiing up and down hills at altitude, then lower it to shoot. Lying down you have to hit a target the size of a golf ball from 50m away (usually with some wind), and standing up the size of a baseball. I thought the aerobic needs of the event would appeal to this forum.
It's usually dominated by the Norwegians, Germans and Russians, though a Frenchman has been dominating for a few years. He had 2 misses, while Bailey went clear.
Sensational effort after years of competing well at the top level. America's first ever World Champ gold I believe.
