Every year the London Marathon assembles the strongest field of any major, often getting 10 or so guys that have run 2:05 or faster. And every year they go out at a ridiculous pace, often well under WR pace, which only one or two guys in the field can handle. While this leads to great times for the top one or two, for everyone else it comes down to a contest of who can handle a blowup the best. Hell, in 2013 the ENTIRE field blew up.
I wish they would try having the pacers go through the half around 2:05-2:06 pace so that there can be more competition during the second half, possibly leading to several sub 2:05s. Maybe every other year they could alternate between a WR attempt and a reasonable race.
