Seems that the versatility and rather loose historical associations of cupcakes have allowed for its appropriation by a most unexpected population (men).

My mom is a feminist and started reading Ms. Magazibes in the 70s which my dad said was the reason for their failed marriage. He beleived she should do housework that she didnt have time for as a schoolteacher, and she loaded the kids with homework that took many hours grading. My dad had a stay at home business as a photographer and beleived in the old ideals of a woman doing all the cooking cleaning and left s completely messy house when she came home. My mom never mentioned cupcakes, and we never ate them except on Christmas maybe or if my sister (who became interested in cooking in high school) decided to make them.
