I'm on 300mg of Wellbutrin a day. Was on Zoloft with it for about 8 months. The combo was amazing outside of some serious sexual side effects. So I got switched to lexapro a few weeks ago. So far I can't tell a difference in any way compared to the Zoloft.
I'd say you're gonna have to stick it out for 4+ weeks to know if the side effects will go away. The first 3 weeks on Zoloft I was shitting my pants like it was my job and my anxiety and depression was 10 times worse. Then the sides disappeared and it was smooth sailing. Never felt better in my life and I'm 39.
Tried lexepro for three weeks. Made me feel anxious and not to mention finishing off sex became an exercise in futility. I also felt tired and sick the way you discribe. After the three weeks I never tried it again. Hope this helps and good luck.
Yup.
Limped dick.
Yeah I didn't like it. I felt really tired and didnt feel like it worked. I'm on sertrauline (spelling?) currently and I have zero side effects!
I guess sertraline is just generic Zoloft, so I second the idea that Zoloft seems to be the way to go, for me anyway. These drugs definelty effect people differently so you kinda have to try it out and see.
Yeah I hope the side effects decrease before 4 weeks though, because the Lexapro is actually helping me with my mood and anxiety. Its really really weird too because the changes are so subtle, I just find myself doing more, thinking more positively, socializing more, treating people better. I'll see how things change over the next few days.

SSRI drugs are among the most widely over-prescribed drugs, and work no better than placebo except in severely depressed patients. This has been known for 10 years, but psychiatrists continue peddling their snake oil because it's such an ingrained and crucial part of their practice that they can't backtrack now. Thousands of psychiatrists would have to retrain for new specialties if the truth about SSRIs were widely acknowledged.

I don't know if that is true, but I do know once you start you can't get off.
Took effexor in college. Went from 14:10 to 14:30. Went from A's and B's to straight A's. Felt completely numb to anything, never sad nor happy. I could have dealt with that, but the sex side effects were unbearable.
Took buspar in my early thirties for two days. I couldn't put one foot in front of the other to run for about a year.
I'm on Lexapro and Welbutrin now in my mid thirties. I feel like I don't need them until I stop taking them for a week. I did run a road PR while taking them, so I don't really have side effects. Someone above mentioned lasting longer in bed as a side effect, but that's not a bug it's a feature. It did wear off so I'm back to normal stamina now.
Lexapro made me totally crazy and sunk me far deeper into problems than being off it. Am on Effexor and it has helped alot.
