Broke my arm. How nasty does a cast get if I run and get sweaty?

Very stinky. Itchy too. Provides a breeding ground for bacteria so a nice skin infection could be yours as a bonus.

On the flip-side you can now deliver one heckuva forearm shiver.

you'll figure it out. you get used to the smell, even if your family doesn't. might be a benefit in a race.
Just stick a bunch of gold bond powder down the thing when you are done and the stench won't be so bad.
Don't want no skin infection. Is that really possible? Or just a remote chance?
Doc said not to get it wet or I'd have to have it replaced. So if I "accidentally" get it wet in the shower ever week or so and get it replaced, is that enough time to prevent a skin infection?
My kids have both gotten casts that they can swim in. Talk to your doc about running and they should have some solutions.
I broke mine freshman year of HS. It was a waterproof cast and I could run just fine. I showered in it and rinsed it out. It takes hours to dry and is annoying but it's not a huge deal as long as you can get a waterproof one. Can't say about a non waterproof one.
Doc never mentioned a waterproof one. That's what I need.

Old man doc is lazy. You need a millennial doc.
It helps to urinate on it.
If it is anything like the cast I just wore for 8 weeks after breaking my wrist, you absolutely don't want to continue running. For a few reasons:
1. Might slow down healing of that broken bone! Not in all cases, but a major thing to consider. Not worth it.
2. Disgusting sweatiness. It's like wearing a parka on your arm, and you will sweat profusely from any activity. Best I could do was like 20 minutes of stationary bike in front of a fan.
3. Way awkward to run. Maybe doable if you counterbalance, but my cast was surprisingly heavy.
I broke mine this summer, I just said fùćk it and ran, you should do the same
Modify the cast , and attach a holster. one that is used for speed shooting competition.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
