Ever heard of Asics? The US brand name changed, and maybe their target market did too.
Of course I've heard of Asics. That doesn't explain why Tiger's no longer make a true running shoe. Just curious why they faded out, when there really wasn't much shoe competition back in the 50's.
If you want retro Onitsuka Tigers you can buy them:

http://www.asics.com/us/en-us/mens-running-shoes/c/mens-running-shoesOnitsuka was the company that was supplying Phil Knight with the first versions of the shoes that started Nike.
There was a lawsuit when a rep from Onitsuka went behind the back of Blue Ribbon Sports (soon to be Nike), when BRS was supposed to have sole rights to certain shoes.
BRS wins in court and the rest is history.
Had a pair of Tiger Jayhawks, way back in the day. Actually two. The flats and the spikes. They were good shoes.
If that is true, that's interesting to know. It seemed like something must have happened years ago, which peaked my curiosity. It was just strange that Tiger running shoes faded away, and I figured there had to be a reason.
9/10 for feigned ignorance.
Great post - thanks! I learned what the word feigned means.

Bill Rodgers wore them in his best years which were a bit later than the 50s.
Now learn peaked and piqued

I've got to go with the guy who's bringing up feigned ignorance. The company name changed. Nothing faded away.

You're right, "there had to be a reason", but you were just too lazy or stupid to do a bit of research and find out what the reason was.
...for the positive response. We need more posters like you.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
