Playoffs?!?!
This season is gone. But, Teddy should be able to come back from ACL injury. It is not a career-ender that it might have been in the past. But, the dislocated knee is worrisome.
Yes, Vikes are doomed. I think this closes their championship window with AP on the squad. There will be no deep playoff run, but there's a slim chance at a wildcard spot with whatever also ran ends up at qb. The only hope would be a team like NO or SD accepting their reality and wisely dealing MN their aging qb for a few draft picks. More worrying, do the Vikes need to assume Bridgewater will never return to his previous track?
We're only doomed if we somehow end up with a privileged black kid from the Bat area. I'd rather roll with Grandpa Hill.

It would be asinine to acquire an aging QB for a few draft picks knowing that Teddy B should be able to return next year. Why do that? An aging QB ain't going to do anything in the playoffs and you would have hurt your future by dealing away draft picks.

Hill was really bad last year. Dozens of gettable qbs are better than him, especially behind a shaky line. I'd rather roll the dice with Kap (almost won SB) or try to get McCarron or Bradford. I doubt any would be good, but they offer more upside IMO than Hill, Sanchez, Geno Smith, etc.
Your only chance is to sign Tebow.
Can you imagine Tebow and AP running the read option? (Didn't AP run that at OU?)
No chance with him, no chance without him.
Teddy B isn't an other-worldly QB, but he was solid enough. I'm really depressed. Vikes were a solid team with him and a deep playoff run was certainly possible.
Who are the projecting will take his place?
Plenty of teams have won a Super Bowl with a backup QB when their starter went down;
2001 Patriots
2000 Rams
1990 Giants
1987 Redskins
Your savior is already on your roster -- Joel Stave. 6'5", 230 lbs, and he knows how to win.
His weakness at Wisconsin was the deep ball, but he never had any quality receivers around, either.
He looked pretty good going 5-6 in that last game, but he did fumble, so that has to be worked on.
Taylor Heinicke is the answer. Just wait. Dude can sling the ball over the place. Saw him at ODU and the guy can throw the ball.
Stave looked good in the pre-season, but it was against scrubs.
Mike Glennon from Tampa Bay might be the best option out there.
Other possibilities include Mike Vick and Mark Sanchez.
Their O-line should be much improved over last year and Teddy was projected to be throwing deep a lot more this year as a result - especially with Laquon Treadwell at WR.
I don't really see the point of signing butt fumble or the dog fight guy, they won't win many games and you're not developing someone for the future.
Stave might not be the right guy either, but at least bring in someone younger who can mature into their system a little bit and maybe have some value down the road either as a permanent backup or trade baitm or someone you get compensatory picks for if they get signed away as a free agent.

Vikes SB window was just opening provided Bridgewater/o-line improved and may be open only a few years. It's closed with a 2nd rate qb barring enormous jumps from young defensive talent. Bridgewater's injury isn't run of the mill acl either. There's no guarantee he's back in form he was showing this preseason by 2017. Old Brees is still most likely a very nice upgrade over a healthy 2016 Bridgewater. Brees only has one year left on his contract. The Saints are years away right now, especially in their division. It would be a perfect trade, but NO would never scrap the season.
Much will depend on how Moon and Carter combine.
Agreed Teddy could be out longer than one year. I like the idea of Glennon, big arm who would fit in Turner's scheme well.
Vikes defense is improved and was great last year. Offensive line looks solid, and was one of league's worst last year. With their corral of three RB's you don't have to annihilate AP every game to run the ball non-stop. They used that format a few years ago to make the playoffs with Chrostian Ponder for gods sake. Vikes were one horrible kick from advancing in the playoffs last year and Teddy was marginal at best. They can make a lot of noise this year with another mediocre qb.

This could be the franchise epitaph.

This is said by every Cleveland Browns fan every year.
