If I ever find myself smack dab in the middle of the yellow brick road I am in no way going to shout, "I'm off to see the wizard!" I will not be shouting this because I know, having read and watched and listened, there ain't no wizard. Just a little old dude behind a curtain.
There has always been an incredible amount of silence about doping in sport. The few are caught by testing, an ever greater few are caught through witnesses/admission, and an assumed great cavalcade advanced undetected and unknown. It makes you wonder how many individuals have confessed on their death beds to loved ones..."I took drugs."
It's simply not worth trying to push #cleansport because there is no yellow brick road and there isn't any purity at the end. Too many champions have confessed after the fact and too many champions have taken their denial and profession of innocence to their graves.
Do away with WADA and its country-branches. So away with testing and allow professionals to dope at their own risk. Surely it will open business to new forms of insurance and Big Pharm. Open the flood gates and be done with this cat and mouse game, where athletes are clearly both cat and mouse 95% of the time.
Make doping legal. Stop testing. Let's get on with sport in the 21st century. We'll be better for it.
