I'm sure tons of people have qualified while living in Boulder, Portland, Flagstaff, even Northern Florida, etc. but has anyone who lives in a small town with no trails anywhere near or the deep south qualified in years past?

This was the first one I thought of too. Different kind of weather problem from the one you suggest, though.
Ron Daws. Trained in Minneapolis and made the '68 team (at altitude). He wrote a great book on it: https://www.amazon.com/Self-Made-Olympian-Ron-Daws/dp/0890371032
Kevin Castille and Jarrett Leblanc.....Deep South Louisiana residents
C'mon man tons of people have qualified for the Trials.
Benji Durden, good example. Running in sweats in Georgia to get ready for hot race day in Buffalo OT.
Florida Track Club had a bunch of top runners... Shorter and Brown come to mind.
Charlottesville, Va isn't exactly the deep south, though it gets plenty hot here during the summer and below freezing in the winter (I wouldn't say these are ideal conditions). 2 local runners competed in the trials this year.

I would argue that Charlottesville, VA is an excellent place to train.

Elkanah Kibet ran a 2:11 or whatever in Chicago to qualify, after being deployed to Kuwait for 6 months.
my goodness, are you really that soft, OP? is this the new mindset of our world? you don't need trails, altitude, or ideal weather to train.
Hot weather is not adverse for training. It's almost as beneficial as altitude.
Boulder - everyone on letsrun talks trash about it. Therefore it qualifies as an adverse place for training. Yet a number have OT qualifiers.
Ideal training conditions would combine high altitude and high heat.
This guy from Louisiana. Hot and humid .
Scott Wietecha for sure
2:17 training in a place at sea level that is always hot and humid with no trails.
Phil Camp qualified for the Marathon Trials by running laps around the Aircraft Carrier he was stationed on while he was in the Navy, Late 1970's early 1980's I think.
I qualified doing all my training and qualifying on the treadmill in my mom's basement. 2:15:40 Full Mary, but the usatf denied my entry.
Like a basement?!

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
