My small town has a Wal Mart, a Sonic, an Arby's, a General Store and a saloon. All I need.
The said town has trailer parks and associated septic fields, no?
What small town doesn't have a trail or park nearby? I can't even think of one town, & I've lived in many small towns. Usually small towns have better access to trails.
Most people don't move too far from where they grew up.

I wouldn't consider any town that has a walmart to be a small town. People that live in small towns have to drive to the "big" town to go to Wal-Mart.
We do have a Dollar General.
I have a state park nearby but only about 4 miles of trails.
I have a few favorite routes that are run on country roads or state highways. I run the same routes I did 35 years ago. I can also run in town but have to hit every street to get 10 miles in.
We don't have any trails per say, and the parks are just neghborhood playgrounds. We do have a big irrigation canal that runs past town. A bit over 5 miles west on that canal and you come to the wal mart in the next town. East on that canal and you can go for 20 miles in one direction. The rest of our runs are on country roads. We do have a 9 acre arboretum adjacent to school and I have a 1200m loop measured out there. There is anothe small park on the river a couple of miles from school and I have a 1k loop there.
I live in a major urban area now, but grew up in a small midwestern town. I ran on the sidewalks in town and on the edge of the road or shoulder on low traffic rural roads outside of town for longer runs. In high school a lot of our runs were loops around the school grounds which was basically all grass.

No trails, but I just run around the town. Also, it is closer to bigger towns and cities. Population isn't really small, like 14000
Well since it's a small town I run to the next town and use it's trail or park.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
