HOF Indiana University T&F and XC coach Sam Bell has died at age 88. Among many others, the man trained the likes of Bob Kennedy, Jim Spivey, Mark Deady and Terry Brahm.

As a collegiate runner in Indiana, I have so much respect and admiration for Coach Bell & the prorgam he's built. IU has produced some fine talent over the years. RIP

Not to derail the intention of this thread, but it's worth noting what a shame it has been to see how the IU program has taken a noticeable step backwards under the...um..."leadership" of Ron Helmer. The memory of Sam Bell and all the athletes he coached deserve better.
I thought he died years ago.
He brought Oregon State it's only National cross country title, which says a lot. RIP
