Noticed this in other meets, watching the Stumptown Twilight brought it back up again for me. For example, none of the Oregon guys in the 1500 (Haney, Cheserek, Prakel, Maton) were wearing UO uniforms, while Grant Fisher was repping his Stanford kit.
Yorks has been racing in his UW kit in the pro meets he's run so far.
Do different schools have different policies regarding this? Why would they disallow wearing the team uniform?
Wheating repped the O at the OT in 2008. Maybe it's a new rule, or maybe they just like wearing a separate vest.
Can't speak for other teams, but the athletes at the trials for our program don't have to wear the school uniform, but we are paying for those that do.
Recent college runners who can get a contract will ditch the university issued gear, but those that cannot, or want to remain NCAA eligible, travel on the school's dime and wear the uni.
