I have been told by my family that I have more potential in the longer events like 10,000m and 5,000 once I get into college because I have older brothers and sisters who have All-American in those events. My training right now is about 50-60mpw. I want to get involved with the bigger events so I can prepare myself for college. I understand the 3200/3000m isn't considered a distance event here, but it's the longest here in high school.
My long runs are always done fast and long. About 6-8 miles each days at around 6:30-6:50 pace depending on how I feel.
There's two kids on the team who are very skinny and scrawny and only run the the 3200 and 3000 and they are pretty bad it. I always beat them in workouts and long runs. Their times are 10:24 for 3000m.
