So I'm in week 12 of my training for XC and all of a sudden these past two weeks my easy pace has decreased and I am struggling to finish my harder runs. My body feels like complete trash right now! In addition to that I have started sleeping almost 4 hours more than usual. I'm not really sure if I'm burned out,overtrained, etc. my last 10 weeks have consisted of 2 tempos and one light speed day with easy runs and a long run the rest of the week along with 4-5 days of intense weight training. In highschool I ran 30 miles including warm ups and cool downs with no weights at all and now I'm running 40mpw not including warm ups and cool downs. I talked with my coach already and he says the dead body is just part of the process of adapting to the college training and I just got to fight through it. Is this true or am I overtrained /burnt out? Have any of y'all gone through this so early in a season?
