OP, even without a scholarship, I believe you still need a release to transfer to another D1 program without having to sit out.

I am assuming you were recruited. Recruited does not equal given scholarship money, people can be recruited walk-ons which is most of the Ivy league I believe. Even if you were a try out walk on, I assume you practiced for more than 14 days and participated in a competition.
So talk to your coach and get a release.
