The news leaked here a couple weeks ago and there have been two (deleted) threads. Things got real ugly real quickly.
You can see why a kid like that might want to be out of the green and gold limelight in duckyland. Good for her and best of luck in Boise.
Ihmels is a snake, so are the people around him... Simple as that, Allie will find out and regret her decision...
Most UofO track graduates tend to disappear after graduation. Drinking too much Oregon Nike-NOP cool-aid does that.
She looks far too young for university - is this a Boise State high school?!

Has always looked younger, been smaller than her peers.

Most track graduates of any program "tend to disappear". But an impartial analysis of how many distance runners continue on after graduation will show that Oregon graduates are very well represented, and very well known, from all the national collegiate programs.
Oregon isn't the best place for every gifted track athlete, just as Duke isn't the best place for every gifted basketball athlete or Stanford isn't the best place for every talented scholar. All the town acclaim, sustained international class competition, billboards, posters, other extended marketing love, facilities, rehab support, NCAA champion and All-American teammates and Olympian milieu comes with a price. The bright lights attract its own share of narcissists along with the very best of the cream. It can be a very tough place, but the fruits of the challenge and its rewards speak for themselves.
So, runner, know thyself! And truly all the best to those that choose a program that fits their needs and goals.
Kind of surprising Emma Bates is the only runner I have ever even heard of that went to Boise State.
I still don't really understand the decision. Boise is awful academically, it makes Oregon look like an Ivy. Why not go somewhere like Colorado if she wants outdoorsy stuff?
Tough girl. She'll make it anywhere.
This thread will probably get deleted when people start saying the cold hard truth, which is, this kid ruined her life. Once again, here is the list of schools she visited that showed interest in her
Oregon
Boise State
Villanova
Stanford
Colorado
Wtf was she thinking? Someboy brought up the fact she likely isn't smart enough for Stanford, but she totally could have done Colorado and Villanova. Well played Mr. Ihmels, well played.

What a stupid comment.
Most D1 College track and field graduates disappear after graduation.
As far as "Nike cool-aid," also a dumb comment.
The coaching staff at Oregon are their own people and have a great program going.
Or would you rather go back to the old days when there wasn't much support for the sport, even at Oregon (when the University was freezing Phil Knight out to spite their face.)???
Boise's a beautiful town.
A lot of big name programs did show interest in Allie, but she went where she thought was the best fit, whats wrong with that? Stanford was way too socal and ditzy blonde girlish for Aliie to like it there. She wasn't going to an east coast school, and at Oregon the presure to perform and race all the time can be too much.
Good for her. She's just a kid; let her do what she wants.
Hope things go well for her there. Such a great talent, hope they don't ruin her there. Academically Boise State is no better than a Community College. Oh well, let's see what comes of her.

From what I've seen of her, the only places she'd probably fit were Boise State and Colorado. You ever listen to her interviews? She's got a good head on her shoulders and will do well in her life no matter where she goes to school, or even if she drops out of school.

Where did you go to school?

You do realize Stanford is not in SoCal right? Not sure what "ditsy blonde girlish" means, especially in regards to Stanford...
If you're gunna pick a reason to cross Stanford off the list, at least make it realistic. Stanford's women's team is in a weird spot now, so definitely not a great choice for a top runner anyways.
What exactly do you mean by "Stanford's women's team is in a weird spot now"? Very interested in your take on it.
Thanks.

Why do you want to know? Really isn't my place to say, and I do have some second-hand bias in regards to the situation. But to summarize: lots of changes in the way the program is run, not necessarily all good.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
