Been getting into doing lower body lifts over the past few months (Squats, Deadlifts, single leg RDL's, etc.) and was wondering you all recommend for sets and reps. I always lift in the afternoon on days that I do interval workouts in the morning so as to keep the hard days hard and easy days easy. I have noticed that if I do sets of 5 x 5 I am not AS sore the next day as opposed to if I do 3 x 10 or 3 x 12.
Obviously 5 x 5 is supposed to be more power oriented, where 3 x 10 is more strength/hypertrophy oriented, but because I have been building in slowly I do do heavier weight on the 5 x 5 than 3 x 10. For instance I'll do 95-115-125-125-135, or 95-115-125 (usually just do same weight on deadlifts and squats).
For those of you that are into lifting, what type of program do you? I have noticed that it does help me feel a lot more relaxed and smooth in workouts so it is something I want to keep doing, but make sure that I do it so as to get the most out of it.
