What did everybody think about his post-race interview on Flotrack?
I've learned not to judge anybody based on a post-race interview. It's a crazy mix of fatigue, adrenaline, and emotion. I've been lucky enough to be interviewed after a couple different races and I've said some weird things.
he's awesome. Seems like a a fun loving guy who loves his teammates.
good guy in his other interviews he wasnt cocky at all he pretty much just let the running do the talking, once you win i feel you can let alittle out and he did. but good guy
Something known only to those close to the CU program is that Theroux was indeed a little banged up at Regionals.
They weren't just resting him for Nationals, he in fact warmed up at Regionals but felt tightness in his calf. So they rested him as a precaution. I'm sure they were nervous all week as to how his body would respond at Nats...and obviously all was fine!
I thought he lacked class, especially talking about how easy it was ("Easiest win we've ever had" or similar) and tweeting simply the word "EASY."
Yes he's within his rights to say those sorts of things. Yes they deserved to win. Yes it doesn't make him any worse an athlete. Yes, it's easy to get carried away after a race and after a national title win. And yes, I'm sure he doesn't place a lot of value what I think of him, and nor should he (although people generally do care what strangers write about them, even / especially when they say they don't.)
But: there are more respectful and classier ways to respond to winning. And I think a little less of him for that response.

So you're making a judgement about him as a person for 1 or 2 things he said which you didn't agree with? When you don't even know him?
That seems strange. Why not just say you think he shouldn't have said that and leave it at that?
To say you think less of him is weird.
Because an opinion of someone's character is inevitably built from the things you witness them say and do. You're right, my sample is very small. And that's probably why he doesn't care.
You seem to be suggesting that you tend to separate your judgement of things people do / say and them themselves. You're wrong. You have a negative opinion of me, you think I'm weird.
I've got some re2pect for this post:

Five years ago I faced one of the toughest decisions of my life in choosing a college. Some were close to home while others had incredible academics. All had great groups of guys to spend the next four to five years with, but only one held the potential for greatness. When I seized the opportunity given to me and committed to the University of Colorado, I knew that it would be a long journey. I told myself that I would train hard, learn from my elders and be patient; and by the time I was a senior, I would be the best runner I could be and one of the fastest in the country. I never could have dreamed of the reality. No combination of words will ever be able to convey the innumerable ways in which I have been blessed. For the past four and a half years I have been surrounded by giants of courage and heart who have pushed me to be the greatest I can be and I will never be able to thank them enough. These men I stand with are both my brothers and my heroes, and I love them to death. We did it boys. Two-time Division 1 National Champions. #COLORADO #BUFFALOES
The guy is Hot.
Whether he means to or not, he has always come off as a pretty cocky. I remember he was interviewed after a high school xc relay race that his team won in a come from behind victory. I believe his words were something to the effect of " I saw how far back we were but knew how good I am so didn't worry about it". It's good to be confident and sure of your skills but maybe he needs to tone it down a bit?
He's the captain of the team that won its second national title in two years, after an incredible season of dominating meet after meet.
Of course the win was "easy", they put 3 in the top 10, after scoring 35 points at pre-nats, after the best RMS they've ever had. I would have been shocked if any team came within 10 points. Congrats to them, they topped off a seemingly perfect season with style.
The dude has great pride in HIS team. He's the senior captain, the leader, and his team just destroyed everyone all season long. It was his last XC race, so he's allowed to act as cocky as he wants. Good for him for speaking his mind. Better than the robots that usually give answers after a race. Showing emotion is a good thing, even if it drives some people nuts.
Here are his hs pr's:
Theroux 1:55/4:14/9:13
He's come a long long way.
I still prefer "gracious in victory, humble in defeat".
I remember NC's when Oregon won.
Rupp and those guys were running around jumping in the air bumping their chests like the NFL in front of everyone. Its their right I guess, but when Solinsky and Wisco won they calmly walked up to our team, looked us in the eyes, and shook our hands. Both left big impressions on me in opposite ways. Maybe its a midwestern thing.
I think Theroux is a great guy based on interviews. seems like a confident leader.
Do you think Solinsky does not have the same ego as Rupp?I like both of them. Both seem confident and have been great models for you ger guys. Solinsky talks a lot in interviews and celebrated quite a bit after the AR. Nothing wrong with it, it's just no different than Rupp.

"talks a lot in interviews" That phrase catches me funny for some reason.
Anywho, trotting around for 5 miles at 5 minute pace, busting a move for 2k and bingo bango you are repeat national champs, by a fair margin? Probably did feel easy to him.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
