Hello, quick question folks. I see that there are corrals for the start of the Tulsa Run 15K and you can qualify to get into the front corral by running a certain time at one of four races in the Tulsa area.
The times are not too fast - like 19 minutes for 5K.
Question is: for an out of towner who is not an "elite", say like 16-17 minute 5K, is it possible to get into the front corral without having to travel to Tulsa earlier in the year and run in one of the 4 designated road races?
Also, is it possible to get near the front corral if you don't have a special qualified bib or whatever they do?
Reason is, I'd like to run the 15K but not if I have to start behind hundreds of people who would be running 30-40 seconds slower per mile. And, I'm not going to travel 5 hours to Tulsa at another time in the year and pay for another race just to get a qualifying time that frankly I can easily hit on a long tempo run.
Anyone have experience with this corral issue?
Thought I would check here before emailing the race contact as I figure those guys are busy enough right now.
Thanks.
