I ran distance all the way through college and was hired as a HS teacher/XC coach/track coach my first year out of college. I have had no problem training the distance runners to moderate success so far in the XC season, but am going to be totally clueless when it comes to training the sprinters when I start up their training soon for the indoor season.
I expect to first run a time trial to see where they are at in the various distances - 100/200/400 - and kind of divide up the guys between 100/200 guys and 200/400 guys (I understand the 60 is run indoor instead of 100). But after that I have no idea even where to start with training for the events.
Anyone help me out or direct me of a place to go for good training to look at through an entire season for average high school sprinters? I looked at their times last year and most of the guys were fairly slow but one is definitely pretty quick having run a 49 400 his sophomore year.
Thanks.
