And isn't there an argument that the less time you spend on your feet while covering the distance the less harmful it is? Meaning, for Kimetto, yes there might be some damage to tendons etc but his body might actually be able to recover and become stronger, while for the 3+ hour marathoner, no such luck, just damage.
