I'm getting two cavities filled on the morning of a race this week. Will the pain killers mess up my race or make me drowsy? I don't really care if my mouth hurts, I just want to make sure there aren't any other side affects that would screw me up.

Why would pain killers be necessary?
Filling do not require painkillers.
Sorry, I didn't know because I've never had a cavity...
They would use local anaesthetic and at most you might have to take some advil if the teeth are a bit sensitive. Even that would be rare if the cavities are superficial.
Even a root canal requires minimal pain killers.
Thanks! I get paranoid sometimes

Other than feeling like you have a fat lip from the Novocain, filling will have no effect on your performance.
I've run (but not raced) after fillings and my biggest problem was I had trouble spitting "cleanly".

Hahahahaha! Are you Hitler?
FWIW, I have requested no anesthesia for fillings in the past. It really depends on how bad the cavity is. if the cavities are bad it can cause some lethargy, but I am betting that you just have some rather small patches to fix based on your history.
Root Canal without pain killers is an absolute joke. There is a reason they used to pull teeth. You'd pass out from the pain.
OP, if you can switch it, do it. If not, you'll be okay.

You are confusing anaesthetic with painkillers.
