Even if he didn't post the full list, it is obvious that pretty much every grade level has some white guilt stuff. Why do K-1 kids need to be learning about Chavez?

Private schools are not state mandated. they have no curriculum. they are not monitored by any higher authority. they can basically teach that 2 + 2 = 5 and only go to school 10 days out of the year and theres nothing the state can do about it. Private schools are a joke and kids who graduate from there shouldn't even be allowed to attend college.

I teach at a private school and can say that this comment is complete BS! I teach science and I teach evolution. The only reason I could see a school not teaching it is if it is a religious school. If you do not believe in Christianity then don't send your kids to a Christian school...sounds pretty simple.

Also, I taught in public schools before my current position and there were several teachers in that school that taught absolutely nothing to the kids. They had been there long enough that there was nothing that could be done about it. You wil lnot find one teacher like that in a "GOOD" private school. That's the great thing about PRIVATE businesses...you don't do your job then you get the boot. They way it should be anywhere else in this country. School unions are ruining education...

This might be one of the most misinformed statements ever written on this board. My child goes to a private school. There is no religion taught there, although I have gone to a couple of assemblies where the different cultures represented at the school (Asian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.) were "celebrated." It was actually very educational to not only the kids, but to those of us in the audience.

To your other ridiculous point - even though my daughter's school is not bound by the state curriculum at all, they have to go through an accreditation process. And, in all honesty, in an environment where the parents are involved and actually have a say (through enrollment decisions), do you think a curriculum of teaching completely wrong facts would lead to a successful model?

You realize that those are merely suggestions. Where are you getting this list? Check out some of the suggestions for 10th grade lit:

The only problem with Common Core is there implementation, the standards themselves are fine.

Get a job.

1. Common Core's big promoter is Jeb Bush, hardly a liberal.

2. Common Core doesn't require any of those books. Those books were decided on by your school or state. If you have a problem with how your public schools are run, get involved at try to change things.

One criticism I do have with the standards is that they started to implement them before they were completed. Also, the centralization of standards creates a whole new set of problems. Try teaching these standards in the Alaskan bush schools and see how well that goes.

(my son has learned about slavery and MLK in school. He hasn't learned anything about feeling "guilty" for being white. He just seems to think it's cool that we know longer own other humans or have laws treating them as sub-human. Crazy kid!)

private schools, especially the ones in red states, specifically tell kids that college is bad and a waste of time. they tell kids to learn a trade like carpentry or roofing because it has job security and its "honest work" that god and good ole country folks approve of.

in other words, private schools are all about morals and want you to have ZERO knowledge about math/science/the real world. they worship capitalism because they they hate poor people.

private school grads end up being MIDDLE CLASS republicans who lay carpet and work on roofs all days with mexicans.

my sister goes to private school. its very ridiculous and low functioning. the material they cover isn't near as advanced as what public schools cover, primarily because the public schools have an actual curriculum. private schools are basically just a day care that rich kids can hang out at and spread conservative agendas all day long.

I looked in the student handbook for my sisters private school. here are some of the rules.....

1. if any male or female is caught with any form of birth control, they are immediately kicked out of the school

2. if any male of female has a child out of wedlock, they are immediately kicked out of the school.

3. if any male or female is caught with pornography, they are immediately kicked out of the school.

4. if any male or female is seen holding hands with the same gender, they are immediately kicked out of the school.

5. if any male or female is caught with a tattoo or piercing, they are kicked out of the school.

GUESS WHAT ELSE........HER BIOLOGY SYLLABUS COMPLETELY SKIPS THE ENTIRE TOPIC OF EVOLUTION.

PRIVATE/CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS ARE NOT EVEN REAL SCHOOLS. THEY ARE CHURCHES AND THEY ARE A TOTAL JOKE. IF I WAS AN EMPLOYEER AND HAD AN APPLICANT WHO GRADUATED FROM A PRIVATE HIGHSCHOOL OR COLLEGE, I WOULD IMMEDITALY THROW HIS RESUME IN THE GARBAGE AND NOT EVEN CONSIDER THEM. THEY HAVE NO REAL EDUCATION.
