That seems very contradictory to me. For example, hot women live in big cities and wealthy suburbs, not in small towns; and they aren't attracted to middle-aged men with guitars.
Why do the lyrics of country music appeal to so many people? Does it represent some ideal that I don't understand as a Northwesterner?
It's a heavily idealized version of American rural life. It appeals to me cause the life it describes is so awesome, but I don't think it's anywhere near reality. For that you'd need more meth heads and obese people.

Yeah, everything except the hot women in miniskirts is true of rural American lifestyles. There are some hot women, and they might wear miniskirts but they are only hot for 5-6 years of their life. Then they become obese and disgusting. Plus their generally pretty religious and not very sexually adventerous. If you can ever get over your "issues" with women you'll be much better off in the Pacific Northwest.

Modern country music is a idealistic version of rural life created by middle-class conservatives living in big northern cities. Shania Twain is Canadian for God's sake, Canadian!!!

Agree, there are plenty of hot women in small towns. Although like another poster said, they go downhill really fast. Good luck finding one over 26.

Its real, but it seems country writers are thinking back to their high school days when writing their music.
- Mini skirts were a real thing several years ago. More recently girls seem to follow the national fashion trends.
- Pasture parties are a high school thing.
- Mudding is a hs thing.
- Driving the back roads with a girlfriend is a hs thing.
- Plenty of hot girls in hs, but the reality is there are just not many single people in their 20s in small towns. Most have gone off to college and then moved to wherever they can get a job.
It's fron a bygone era. Today, the U.S. has no country. Most people live in suburbs even in the South.

This is it. I'd guess most country singers who hit the big time moved to some city shortly after they got out of high school, so their "country" memories stop there. No country song I've ever heard mentions college. In all the "story" songs, the singer marries their high school sweet heart.This is honestly why country doesn't appeal to me. It's not the instrumentation or the accent, it's the subject matter. High school was a long damn time ago for me, but it was even longer ago for most of these singers, other than T. Swift, who just straight up sucks.

There are smokin' hot girls in the country...all knocked up by 20, busted by 26.
The music doesn't mention the guns....oh,the guns and the ORVs. This ties into the above observation.
