Crazy, why are the show's hosts acting surprised. Don't they work with these people? How could they not notice her weight loss.

They go home for a period after the last recorded show and train on their own. The finale is live - the hosts haven't seen them in a long period at that time.
Oh in that case, its definitely possible she lost weight in an unhealthy way to win the 250K. I wonder if they will make changes to the show's format after this controversy.
What I don't get is the outcry from the traditional media and from social media that she went "too far" in her weight loss. That's absurd. She's healthy now (and not to mention, attractive). If anything, being "too skinny" is ten times more healthy than being too fat.
At 5'5", her 105 lbs is not out of the ordinary for a young, healthy athlete. (She was a competitive swimmer prior to her getting fat.)

I agree. She doesn't look abnormally gaunt. Not from the pictures I saw. PLUS, it was to win $250k. I'd go the extra mile and starve myself a bit for the cash. Now, maybe it could become or is a problem for her. But to assume she has a problem based on what evidence there is seems to be jumping the gun. Almost all the show's contestants put weight back on after the show, and I've read that they do a pretty good job of starving themselves on the ranch when the trainers are there. The show is stupid, imo, but what did they expect?
Did you see her legs. There's about 50 pounds of muscle right there.
Not surprised her legs have that much muscle since considering how heavy she was and in the before pics you can see that she had big legs as well. Women who are overweight have to support that weight..so big calves are not uncommon
She may be a healthy weight now, though she is on the lean side. She's 8# lighter than Shalane, who is the same height. The concern is that she was a huge fatty a couple months ago, and they aren't sure if the way she lost the weight is healthy.
Sure, her fat lifestyle was unhealthy. It probably would have lead to her dying early, maybe 20-30 years down the road. But anorexia, or bullemia, could kill her within the year. So being "too skinny" is not 10 times more healthy than being "too fat".
It would take someone with a lot more knowledge than any of us have to know if she has a dangerous eating disorder. But the fact that she went from being a blimp to being leaner than Shalane makes you wonder if something's not "normal".

Being too skinny is really unhealthy, and competitive swimmers are usually a little on the heavy end of "normal." With that said, you can't judge whether or not someone is at a healthy weight just by how they look (barring extremes), but the amount of weight people lose in this show that quickly is by no means healthy in any way, and she took it a step further I guess.
This whole show is a terrible thing that needs to go away, but hey, it's entertaining (I watch it sometimes, unfortunately).
She looks good.
She does NOT look healthy. Look at her face..her cheeks look sunken, she looks like she has aged 10 years. 5'5 and 105 is very thin. I'm 5'6 and lost a bunch of weight last year due to a medical condition. I got down to 105 and looked horrible. Everyone was concerned. Sure, it's not great to be overweight but I think she went too far. I'm hoping it was just fr the money and she will gain a little back.
Wow she looks GOOD for once in her life. Typical America! The fatties on tumblr will be crying into their milkshakes
It is irrelevant if it is healthy or not. This lady wanted to win and she took it to the extremes throughout the last few weeks, likely by going super low in calories (and likely zero carbs, too).
$250,000 were on the line and I would have done the same. She will easily gain 10 lbs throughout the next week just through water retention. And another 10 probably too. She is then at 125 and there is nothing wrong with that.
Yuck, she looks like a female runner now. No curves to be seen anywhere. Lost too much weight to fast and didn't do the right strength training (squats, deadlift, lunges is all a woman should do). Here shape is to "square".
She should have probably stopped halfway through her journey.
she looks normal. but yeah.. it's a weight loss competition, not a beauty contest.
in other words x fit guy likes fat women

I think xfit guy likes women who look like women. I know Jordan Hasay is the ideal figure to most people here, but the rest of the world doesn't like their women looking like a 10 year old boy.

This
eh -
huge generalization just b/c you like bigger ladies doesn't mean most don't prefer women who exercises, doesn't eat like shit or drink most nights -
if you think the picture posted earlier in this thread screams 10yr old boy - you like fat chicks - LOL (not saying she wouldn't look good still if she gained a few pounds - but she isn't grossly underweight by any means)
You appear to believe a woman has to be emaciated or a fat tub of s**t. I don't personally like either look. I like a woman who looks like a woman. A woman who weighs 5 lbs less than Shalane Flanagan is scary skinny. Have you ever wondered why women that thin lose their period? It's because nature is telling them you aren't healthy enough to have a baby.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
