Can someone explain the difference between running on a treadmill at the same pace that you're running outside, whether it be on the track, roads or the trails?
If I run 10mph on a treadmill, that is 6 minute pace, correct? If I go to a track and run 4 laps in 90, it feels a lot easier than the effort on a treadmill.
Why does it seem like I am going so much faster on a treadmill versus outside?
I understand that your front leg is getting pulled back when it hits the belt, but you also have to get your rear leg up just as fast or you're going off the back end.
So then, can anyone explain this to me? I feel like a roadrunner at that pace on the treadmill, but not outside.
Thank you.
