The Moose Plan was developed by Rbbmoose from the Runner’s World Marathon Race Training (MRT) Forums (RIP). A 2:40:00 marathon runner in his 50′s, Rbbmoose came up with a real-world plan that works for him, and given his success as a runner, it has caught the attention of many slower, old runners.
Monday 10 miles at goal Marathon + 2:30 per mile
Tuesday same as Monday
Wednesday 13 miles at goal marathon pace
Thursday same as Monday
Friday same as Monday
Saturday same as Monday
Sunday 20 miles at goal marathon pace + 1:00 per mile
This is part of the moose marathon challenge. Rbbmoose(Ray Bentley) would give anyone an engraved mug that could run 2 hours plus his age. Women get another 20 minutes. So it you are age 23,you have to run a 2:23 or a woman that was age 23 would have to run 2:43.
The schedule is very different to me because of the crazy slow easy days. But maybe that is part of why it worked for him. So has anyone used this or have any thoughts on it?
