I just joined a gym that has Lifefitness treadmills. The only problem is that there is a one hour time limit on the treadmills and it automatically goes into a cool down after the hour. Is there any way to override the one hour time limit?

It's for safety. If you run more than an hour on a treadmill you will over heat and get diarrhea
Move to another treadmill.
Any other solutions?

Hit stop. Then hit start again.
Halfway through your run or whenever, get someone to start the treadmill next to you at the same speed you are running on the one you're currently on. Bark like a wild dog at anyone that tries to go on the treadmill next to you. When your hour is ending do a sweet jump to the treadmill next to you.
Problem solved. Your welcome
Why would you ever run on a treadmill? Go run outside!
Whatever.
OP, look at it as a break/recovery if it stops at the one hour. Just re-start it. No big deal.

Outside is great, but here are a few:
-Softer surface.
-No traffic.
-Music/TV.
-Avoid ice/high heat & humidity
-Mental toughness
-Solo tempo runs are actually pretty nice on the TM - set pace & zone out
-Access to water
-Can stop any time to manage injuries... don't get stuck miles from home
-Shoes last way longer vs pavement (I regularly get 2k-3k miles out of my treadmill shoes)
-Hill workouts at any incline
-Can run "along" with anybody much slower/faster than you, which you'd normally never run with, or it'd be a pain for one of you to slow down that much.
-Continuous eye candy (if your gym has attractive folks)
I usually hook up my treadmill out in my driveway when I run outside.
My gym has newer Life Fitness stationary bikes (the ones with the TV built in) that I got to know and love when I had a 5th metatarsal stress fracture. When I went to punch in a time for a manual workout, there was a (rather unnoticeable) option underneath called "marathon mode", which counted up instead of down and let me pedal for as long as I wanted. I've never been on a Life Fitness mill but maybe there is a similar option??
Ok, so I took the challenge to see if I could find you some info.
This has some good ideas:
http://forum.slowtwitch.com/cgi-bin/gforum.cgi?post=2373057
-setting the calories to burn for a high number.
-googling the manual and find procedure. Machine might require password, but most gyms leave it at the default.
-pushing the pause & clear buttons in a sequence to get to the configuration settings screen. Then change.
This thread says the following:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/736235-life-fitness-treadmills?page=2
I use the life fitness treadmill at my gym, some are set to 30 min max and some 60 min. However, on the time limit screen, they also have 'marathon mode'. This mode overrides the time limit and the treadmill only stops when you press the cooldown/end button, essentially giving you an unlimited workout time! (before anyone tells me off, I only continue on a long workout if there is no one waiting!)
I don't know if this is an option on all life fitness treadmills or just some, but worth checking for those of you who dont want to keep stopping and starting!
Hopefully you figure it out. Good luck!

= wuss!

Seriously? Go outside and run like you're meant to. The world has lost its mind.

You mean crazy like replying to someone from two years ago?
BUT, while we're here, one of the posters FROM TWO YEARS AGO, said his shoes last longer on the treadmill. Does everyone, anyone else agree with that. I've always thought the treadmill tore my shoes up fairly quickly.
I just joined a gym last month and found this site doing a search for this exact question.
All the runners I know in real life are super supportive and kind and helpful. I am truly surprised at some of the responses on here!
I am a newer runner, in my 40's. I started running because I have osteoporosis, and it is one of the two best things I can do in terms of exercise to keep my bones stronger. I am still a slow runner at about a 12 minute mile, but I discovered the 1/2 marathon bug this past summer. I have to run inside in the winter due to the danger icy paths pose to me. For those of you who might give it some thought, it does actually throw off your rhythm when you are running 10 miles on a treadmill and you need to stop three times to reset the display. You can be flippant about it, but it is a valid question when you are training.
If anyone has a real answer this question in the time since the original post, I would love to know the answer! (But I will definitely check to see if the ones at my gym have marathon mode.)
