Fairly obvious she's xxy.
Really sucks for her because that's just a confusing mess in life and on the track.
Not really fair to her competitors though when the sport is broken down by sex. Is it sexist or insensitive? No, the sport is broken down by sex, what do they expect the participants to do about it when it's such a muddled version of that line between man/woman.
Those trying to deflect and claim she's all woman really aren't doing her any favors. I wish people were more honest and open with the issue so that they wouldn't have to treat her like an outcast or some sort of leper. It is what it is, why not talk about it and why sometimes it's difficult to assign gender...?
Agree with most of this. A few things are mysteries. Did the confidential deal with the IAAF require her to take hormones to lower her testosterone?
She's a college student, right?
Why has it seemed impossible for her to realize she had a totally unfair advantage over "other" women?
How many of us in college would have wanted to compete against high school kids all the time?
I have no doubt that if the IAAF hadn't interceded that she could have just crushed every competition she wanted.
Strong bet the SA Federation folks wanted to use her to make the money for themselves.
Sad situation for her, but also not fair for the women in her event.
