First off I want to say comparing Lebron to Jordan is a bit silly as they are very different players. Jordan was a better scorer and a better defender. Lebron is a little bit better as a facilitator and rebounder. (1.6 more assists per game and 1.1 more rebounds) One thing people don't realize with Jordan was that he walked away from the game at the height of his career after averaging 33 points a game and almost 3 steals a game the season before and winning a title. He was an undersized forward or taller two guard who shot 50% from the floor for his career. Lebron won a title at 27 but he had more years (opportunities)in the NBA than Jordan. Also comparing D-Wade and Bosh to Pippen and Grant is a bit of a stretch.

Finally 6 championships that could have easily been 7 (if he didn't retire and come back)

Lebron is definitely not far and away the game's greatest player especially when comparing him to Jordan.

Not sure if I agree with you. But there is no question Lebron was a better player at a young age. There is a great misconception that Jordan was one of the greatest college b-ball players ever. He wasn't anything close to it. Of course he had some great highlight dunks. But he was never that great of shooter as he would later become. In 1984 Indiana upset North Carolina and Jordan only scored 2 lousy points.

Lebron on the other hand was a pretty good b-ball player in the NBA straight out of High School.

I think the op is plain wrong.

The stats and titles alone tell the tale, but there was something more with Jordan. He transcended his particular sport in a way that only the best ever could. He was fearless in his devotion to winning and he was a winner hands down, regardless of illness, injury, or whatever. He made everyone else on his team better when he played.

He was and will forever be the best player the world has ever seen.

I don't think these comparisons make sense. I am a lifelong Bulls fans who lived through the Jordan era. It was great. I thought it never made sense to compare Jordan to Russell, Magic, Bird and Wilt. They are not the same players. They played different positions at different times. I enjoyed the titles but never ran around saying my team's player was the best of all time - I had no idea what guys like Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor or Jerry West could do. He was the best of his era.

I will say this - (1) Jordan brought the league to a new level of popularity. Lebron never had the opportunity to do anything like that. (2) Lebron flat out gave up on his team in the playoffs (game 5) during his last season in Cleveland. It can't be denied. Jordan never did that.

It isn't legal to believe anyone would or could be better than Michael Jordan.

You have to be an idiot and know absolutely NOTHING about what happened that game. I was there. I am sure you know that Lebron had already taken two cortisone shots in his elbow with the second being before he put the cavs up 2-1 in the series with 38 points 7 assists and 8 rebounds. He wasn't able to take any more without risking damage so he could barely use his right arm during the game. Why do you think he only took 14 shots? If you actually watched the game, you would have known that Lebron couldn't even dribble the ball with his right hand. He tried a couple times and immediately had to use his left. He still had 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Did you know that Lebron still had the best +/- of the starters that game? If you want to know the real reason they had no chance against Boston, it's because the idiot owner forced GM Danny Ferry to make a trade bringing in Jamison and screwing up all the rotations they spent the year perfecting. An over the hill Shaq and Jamison weren't nearly as good as Verajao and Hickson who had been winning games with Lebron all year. You do realize that Danny Ferry was the first to bolt Cleveland as fast as he could don't you?

Maybe you forgot that in game 6 Lebron had 27 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assist trying to will the team to a win with that same bad elbow.

Instead of following all the media like a sheep, maybe you better get your facts straight before you post ignorant garbage on something you know nothing about.

The last point is that since Danny Ferry left, Mike Brown got fired, and Lebron left, Cleveland has a record of 63 wins and 160 losses. It's pretty clear who the "winners" were and who the "losers" are.

Arguing better is like arguing fairness. It's subjective and pointless.

Results are what count. LeBron vs MJ isn't an argument that lasts more than 10 seconds now. In 10 years maybe it'll change.

As someone who is not a big NBA fan at all but who has watched both play a number of times on the TV, Jordan seems like the superior player to the point I don't understand why these comparisons come up so frequently. To me it's not even close. Perhaps the stats are somewhat similar; I don't know, but I remember watching Bulls vs Jazz and just being blown away by how incredible Jordan was, and more importantly how great he made his team play. It was like they were all on the same wavelength and knew each other inside and out. I don't get that feeling at all when I watch Lebron. I also get the feeling that Lebron is mostly out there to have fun and get attention, whereas Jordan cared a lot more about winning and succeeding. Perhaps those differences don't necessarily make one player better than the other, but there is a reason Jordan became legend. He was captivating in more ways than one.

Michael Jordan was and will remain the greatest basketball player in NBA History. He gave up on the chance to win 8 consecutive titles to play baseball for some reason. He was the best offensively and defensively. Now every generation will have their so called best player of all time. This is a given. 20 years from now some other player will be seen as better than kobe or Lebron ever was. Its just the way of life. Every generation wants their favorite players to be the best of all time. Now Lebron is a great player and all but he would seriously get locked down if a "prime" Scottie Pippen or Dennis Rodman were guarding him.

There is not a player on the court today that could come close to stopping Jordan in his prime. Not one.
