it's exciting split meet weekend in the oac. one can't wait to see who will be resting this weekend and what bad athletes will actually place at these two meets because the studs are down or running off events. who is gonna win these and who are the last place teams?
There are approximately 10 guys in the OAC capable of running sub-5 min mile pace for 5000 meters. Is it really worth talking about?
Muller blows everyone away in the 5k and 3k. Not even close. Janosko behind him in those events (if BW is allowed to compete at OACs). Beyond that, it's a tossup among a small group of 15:20s guys. Muller takes his share of the points, and then Mount, JCU, and ONU divide most of the remainder.
It's All-Ohio weekend which means its time for OAC domination in this 20+ team meet. Is any team on either side better than the Mounties? How many OAC teams will be in the top 10? Possibly 8? After looking at the Split meets, why are the southern OAC schools so weak compared to their northern brethren for both genders?
Enjoy the OAC North - I mean All-Ohio - meet this weekend.
Who cares? The OAC didnt even have team go to nationals in cross this year(or last year). I know some of you dbags from mount will say, hey we almost got out, but you didnt because you suck. The OAC is just a bunch of runners that were bad in high school and still bad in college, except Muller.
Why is Michael Simmons such a butt pirate? seriously.
Apparently the OAC message board inclinations have simmered down a bit.. too bad, it was always fun
hahaha awesome!
Hey guys ya better watch out for the biggest up and coming name in the OAC, Tyler "Tron" Weseling. Dude, nobody thought he was gonna come back, they thought he was done! But he's been liftin, he's been doin more core than he ever has, and has gained 3 lbs and can now train without his legs exploding.
Frustrated with Coach Basista, Tron turned to a new mentor, Ron Jeremy. His new workouts have been incredibly long and hard. For example, I saw homeboy on the track the other night clickin' off 69 sec 400's like it was job! T-ron did roughly 1000 of these until he pointed at Mr. Jeremy and said "Dude, I gotta go to Accounting!". The workout was so magnificent that it sent Ron to the hospital (get well soon).
It goes without saying that had he run at the state meet this past weekend he would won everything above 800m. He prolly woulda easily been the state champion in Women's Shot as well. Look for Weseling to have a FIELD DAY at O-AKs and immediately melt the clothes off all females within 25 miles of ONU's campus.
Ok - Let's have some fun. I'm standing around at teh All-Ohio meet this weekend and I here that the Capital sprint coach believes that the Crapital women's team will beat the Mounties at the league meet. I guess Crapital, after scoring like 28 pts at the meet (to Mount's over 100) must have ;eft a few athletes at home. Does anyone know what they have that makes a coach believe this? I saw them run some relays at the meet, but that was it.
What happened to Wilmingtons distance. A few of their top guys in cross this year do not seem to be running indoor, and they had a breakthrough year this cross season by placing 4th. Any insight???
We are now 1 week away, will there be any suprises at the big meet?
Otterbein for the win. They are running out of their minds!!!!!!-- what is going on there? Did you see what happened at OSU last night...They killed it, They can go sub 10:20 for the DMR! they are unstoppable-- they are running like the 2003 guys that everyone knows and loves. Mantall ran so fast! He is like 45 in the nation! How did he do it? they are going to peak soo well for this meet next week? Muleer is going to have his work cut out for him if he runs the mile...Is akrum back? What about Evan Mcavy, he did so awesome last year at THE OAC meet! Most teams running at KENYAN and Capital today. Does anyone have a shot at beating Mount for the overall championship- both sides, they are the real deal. Spaking of real deal, does anyone have money for me to get in the OAC meet next week at ONU? I heard they are charging like $45 per person to get in? I can't pay that, that is way too much. I'll be the guy in the black and blue blazer out front...Please help me get in there....I HAVE TO WATCH....THIS IS MEET IS EVERYTHING I NEED TO LIVE!
For me the dmr mile and 5k will be the best races. Onu Wilmy JCU marietta(if mueller runs it) and otterbein could all have sub 10:25 dmrs. The mile may be a little slower but no one is way out in front mantell from otterbein, Johnson from onu, Erwin from Wilmy and o'brien from JCU cld all roll and maybe mueller??? 5k is also loaded with what like 4 onu guys mueller who wins and JCU guys maybe some mount guys.
Even Otterbein has a guy in the mix for the 5k!

Did you go to Mount Union? Because you don't seem very smart.
Tyler sounds very athletic.
And if Simmons were twice as smart, he'd still be stupid.
Heidelberg is horrible. But when they have the right coaches (Brown, Lucas, Keith Roberts) that school without an indoor track wins conference titles.
This says a lot about the coaches who do win titles verse ones that don't. Take Lucas for example, from what I have heard 'coaching' is his number one priority, above all else. Any team that doesn't follow this mindset doesn't do so well. People should look back at ONU; when Maus was younger and probably had more time to recruit they won a lot. Now look at the other end of the spectrum at schools that have older coaches and where they sit in the ranks... Coaching is a young man's game. Look at BW, a few years ago on the women's side, really really good. Now not so much? What has changed? An assistant coach left, and things start to crumple? Maybe that is the reason, maybe not. Also you have to look at what coaches care about event wise. JC only cares about distance, nothing else. Should be strong come XC next year, but will finish low in the Indoor and Outdoor meets.
You seemed to start out saying 'coaching' is the most important thing a coach does but then switch to talking about how important recruiting is. Which is it?
In either case, it makes sense that xc/track coaches would put a very heavy focus on distance recruiting since that's where you get the year-round bang for your buck, but obviously distance alone doesn't win track championships.
I think that one of the keys in D3 track is getting football, soccer, and volleyball players to compete. Convince the other coaches that it will make their athletes better, and you should get more out.
