Where exactly does it hurt? Describe the symptoms, please.
Hi.
started in the lower inner hamstring tendons (behind knee area) then soreness shot up into the hamstring then subsided after multiple ice baths, yet i ran today and it is still lingering, just not as bad.
relative rest. lots of ice. compression and 500-1000 mg of naproxen (aleve) daily. DO NOT stretch.
Deep tissue massages & heat worked good for me. My massage therapist would heat up the hamstring while he was giving me a deep tissue massage, which really helped. Stretching was not really good for my hamstring, so I had to stretch real slow & deliberate. Really - the massages were what finally allowed me to get back to running again. When I got to the point where the hamstring felt comfortable enough again - I started doing strengthening exercises & I have continued that to this day. My hamstring problems were about 8 years ago & I have had no trouble with my hamstrings ever since.
Where the heck do you get your information from? Stretching early remodels forming scar tissue so that the injury heals with functional adhesions. Stretch to the perception of stretch and hold for long duration. Ice if it is newer than 72 hours old and alternate heat and ice if older. Get some cross fiber massage, Graston, ART or some other manual therapy to make sure it heals right.

Dry needling helped me significantly. You may have to search for someone who does it though.
I heard making funny videos helps
Go to YouTube and search "active release therapy" and "hamstring" together.

Do the same search with "piriformis." You may have some piriformis involvement that will give you referred pain via your sciatic nerve. This is especially true if you have the sense that the injury is moving around; if you have a difficult time, on a daily basis, finding one consistent pain-point.
I had great results treating high-hamstring tendinopathy (at the butt-bone insertion point) with ART. It's also worked well with piriformis. Search YT for "piriformis stretch." There are some GREAT videos out there. Watch a half dozen; see what the common points are. See what they have to offer. Guaranteed you'll exit that little research trip knowing more than you do right now about what's going on and how to treat it.
Also use the LR search engine, since I and others have discussed this many times before.
Naproxen 1000 mg
Bowen therapy is the best. I found massage to aggravate it more.
Magnesium oil may help too, warm the bottle in some boiling water.
Also find out the source of tension, may be nerve related or hip out of alignment.
I take gabapentin/neurontin 100mg 3 times a day definitely eases my pain. I hope this helps good luck :-) and god bless
This sounds like a tough, debilitating injury. I read a great article on this here:
