Anyone know how fast Andrews ran today??
1:50 POINT
The announcer had him through in 54/55, but I had him through in 56.46.
He was real relaxed. He is real excited to face Rudisha though.
thanks....
The Alan Webb effect?
The race, which was supposed to go off at 2:50, went off at 4:20 due to a 1 hour rain delay with thunder storms. And in any case, the field was no where near competitive enough for him.
clearly

Vig, he no looking like a genius no mo'.
Just wait until the Olympics. Andrews will win double gold in the 8/15. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!
Remember that Robby is racing Rudisha and Kaki on Saturday. The 800 today might have been only a 90% effort.

What a stupid, ignorant comment.
Vig purposely put Andrews in this race for one reason - to practice running slow and closing fast as hell.
I always thought one of Alan Webb's main problems was that he never learned to feel comfortable in non-rabbited races as he never ran them. Webb should have been put in 4:10 college races and told to run in the pack for 1400.
Sure Webb ran non-rabbited race in HS but he was way better than everyone there.
As for Vig being a genius, to me the athletes are geniuses. A coach is like a jockey. But having him run a race like this is a genius move in my mind.

If the second poster is to be believed, Andrews ran close to even splits.
It was an 800. We need to see 200 meeter splits to get the full picture. He could have gone out to the lead the first 200...coasted the middle 400 and rocked the last 200. Hard to tell with only 400 splits.
He's racing a real 800 on Saturday. There is zero chance this was an all out effort.
I was there. Had heard beforehand his plan was to run the last 200 hard. There was a rabbit for the 1st 600 where they came thru at 1:25 then robby took off and ran 25xx for last 200.
When is he racing Rudisha?
Video doesn't focus on him the whole time, but I got 55.0 for the first 400m and around 25 sec for the last 200m.
an 800 with near identical lap splits is strong indication of a pretty easy and relaxed effort.

Better late than never.
Rudisha's 800 pace is 25 point.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
