I think a 15:00 5k guy should start taking EPO and come back to this board to report its effects. I would love to know the difference it makes. Ideally the runner should be older than 26. I would do it except that Im injured.
Thanks

"My ... ehm .... friend" had done it. What would you like to know?
Something along the lines that he was able to reproduce his best years, even though he is in his mid thirties (and training less)? Or that he is able to run with ease the workouts he wasn't able to run when in his prime years (between 24 and 28)? Or rather that he can throw down furious surges during marathons, where he runs very close (for those fast sections) to his flat out PRs? (like running 3k section from 38th km to 41st km in 8:31, just 10s off his PR?) What else? That he also needs to supplement it with hGH to speed up recovery, even though when EPO, he can run with much less effort? Or that his injuries are non-existent and/or healing so fast, it is almost a miracle?
What do you want to confirm? That it works? Hell, yeah, it does! BTW, he is not caucasian, so it might be with direct contradiction with some popular belief of one of the best recruiters in the world (or shall I say, "coaches"?).
Wow! this is great stuff, thanks
How long of a period was your "friend" taking epo?
How easy was it to get epo (since he does not appear to be world class)?
Any negative side effects?
How much time would you predict taking epo would have taken off his 5k pr in his prime?
Sounds like you are interested. I know someone who can get you a small sample for one doping cycle if you want at low cost. If you like it then we can arrange some sort of deal for long term. It will be the best thing you ever did for your running.

This is a great idea for someone to take it and post their training log and their dosage.
In my prime I would have never taken anything.
I didn't like taking any supplements and surely wouldn't have taken anything stronger.
But I really don't see anything wrong with anyone who wants to take drugs to see how fast they can run just for the sake of their PR and their training.
A personal record is, well, personal. It doesn't cheat anyone else unless they are competing to compare it to another person for some competition purposes or as a some qualifying standard.
Taking prize money would be different. That would be cheating someone out of money that they should have received.
Getting a trophy? Well, just leave after the race and don't take the trophy. Sorry if someone misses out on their trophy. Not a big deal.
I personally still wouldn't do it.
Mostly because I am not dedicated to running anymore and I still don't like the idea of ingesting drugs.
But I really don't object to others who wish to do this just as I don't care about anyone who smokes pot even though I don't.
I'd like to see a runner do this. There's an article in Outside Mag. where a cyclist took a full range of drugs, EPO, Test. HGH, etc.. The changes in performance were remarkable, and he was just your weekend warrior type of cyclist.
There's also a book written about a guy that takes testosterone. Similar results, but I have to say that the book itself sucked balls.
I would do this. Here's the background:
42 years old now, best running days behind me. Recently ran 18:30 for a 5k, 39:00 for a 10k.
Ran D1 in college- 3:53 for 1500 Meters, 30:50 for 10k. Obviously that was a long time ago.
Now some questions:
Where would I get it?
I looked online and found this:
, but it seems like some sort of knockoff of the actual drug.
Is it illegal to buy it in America?
If so, where would I get it?
Is it taken orally or through injection?
Help me and I will post here.
Does anyone have any info on Mircera? What are the doses like and how is it different from say rhEPO?
Only 1-2 monthly injections of Mircera have similar results to three times weekly injections of Epogen. Detailed instructions on using Mircera can be found on the Internet.
Is this true? Is this how the pros would use it or would they use more frequent micro doses?
Also where would one find these detailed insructions!?
I've always been interested in this kind of stuff.

- usually 2 cycles per year, lasting 12 -16 weeks. In between, he recovered from the season (series of races and one or two marathons in the range of 2:11 to 2:16) and started a preparation for the next one. When loading, he ran bad races, but after 4 weeks, he was flying. After 5-6 weeks off the gear, if he raced, he ran 90s to 2min slowlier over 10km.
- very easy to get EPO; you just have to spend few hours on the net and check your source to avoid scam; it's sad but true - nowadays, you can find the most potent drugs (even the most expensive like GW15-16 - aicar) within hours and get it deliverd to your door.
- he is not world class, but fast enough to earn the money he invests into his running and have a normal career outside of running; he is well respected runner and now (sadly) also a coach;
- he always says - do your research, don't risk, take the blood tests every 10 days, and you are safe; he claims he is healthier than in his twenties when he was clear; he appears leaner and is definitely faster;
- in his prime, he could have taken 30-45s from his 5k PR - he would be OT qualifier, maybe even contender for the spot - had he been a US citizen - which he is not;

someone here can help you get it i am sure.
it is illegal to have or use without a prescription. if caught by customs importing you could get into quite a bit of trouble.
real epo is only taken via injection or iv. The injection types can be subcutaneous or intravenous.
BTW, he was always quite open about his regiment among friends. He also names the NAMES of well known runners, he knows for sure they are on EPO, where they get it, and since when they are using.
I had become very cynical of this futile effort of playing hide and seek. Those at the very top would have to be extremely stupid, or very, very unlucky to get caught - white or black, arab or asian, muslim or christian - doesn't matter. Before comp, they are microdosing for weeks via IV, out of comp, they shoot it subcutaneously. Detection time? Microdosing via IV (up to 1000IU) - less than 12 hours. Sufficient dose for holding your peak is 300IU every day, thus no detection after 4 hours. Easily avoidable positive tests. SubQ dosing of up to 5000IU is 2-4 days, depending on the weight. Likewise - easily avoidable if you are stashed in the mountains. And that's what most pros do - go somewhere to remote location and come back high as kites.
Most of the PROs are on something. There are so many designer drugs with the same effects as the detectable, you cannot even imagine. It's just how it is.
I have no desire to take this stuff as Im way past my prime and I would not have done it in my prime. But no doubt, I could have been a contendor.
I just think it would shed so much light on the sport if an individual or group of runners started taking EPO or EPO and HGH in a very controlled setting and related the outcome.
I dont want to believe everyone is dirty.
What do you mean 'shed some light'? Are you doubting that EPO makes much of a difference?
The stuff is magical. There's no argument there. It makes a MASSIVE difference.
What is a "MASSIVE difference". Real world examples exposed would be nice to see
Would epo make a 14:00 guy 13:xx? or a 13:25 guy sub 13:00?
If Salazars group is clean, then on EPO they should be able to be world beaters and should be able to compete w/africans

mircera is career suicide, it is the most easily detected type of epo and the detection period is far longer.
Here is the Outside article. It's as close to what everyone on here is talking about as you can get. It's just a guy on a bike instead of running shoes.

Interesting article. I never knew Lagat failed a test.
Anyways if someone else pays for it i'll inject EPO into my ballsack.

See Ayanleh Souleiman. The most obvious doper on the scene right now.
I dont think someone else is going to dump a grand to a few grand into this expiriment. I think the user is going to have to cover the cost.

Bullcrap. If you really want to make a massive difference to your running, you would do it legally by training much harder.
