I just wanted to confirm that when these positions are filled they will all go to coaches from the West who can make true contenders out of these programs. I see no other path to success.
Well, certain you're wrong about one, and wrong about the idea. Minus Oregon, what west coast team has won a recent national title.....check the southeast and your thoughts may change, west coast big talk, little action
no one has filled the jobs, things are still open. Most jobs are to be filled by July 1st.
I know it doesn't matter as a school will go after who they want, but Ohio State just closed the track application pool on May 27. And, while OSU had the money, is the school really willing to put any money into one of their minor sports programs. If Gary was making around $100k - the pay scale offered by another poster was from 2010, before he got his new 3 year contract that went into effect this school year - will the school really ante up to $150 or $200k or more to satisfy a name coach? The budget stinks compared to other big name schools. And, if u take the new salary up u probably have to take the women's salary with it. I just don't see this happening after the huge increases given to the new football staff. Salary will stay low and who is gonna take a cut in pay for OSU?

Just out of curiosity, since this is public information, looked up the Ohio State operating budget:
Ohio:
$494,246
Indiana:
$438,873
Purdue:
$464,458
Illinois:
$394,136
Iowa:
$609,160
Michigan:
$782,568
Michigan State:
$483,064
Nebraska:
$534,966
Minnesota:
$820,246
Wisconsin:
$839,948
Oregon:
$1,084,473
Stanford:
$503,078
Washington:
$718,184
Texas:
$1,140,442
Texas A&M:
$1,179,147
Florida:
$1,095,981
Florida State:
$1,036,590
Virginia:
$389,780
North Carolina:
$211,816
Duke:
$386,251
Furman (gasp!):
$66,085
Tennessee:
$813,792
Oklahoma:
$1,026,384
Yeah, Ohio State's operating budget is pathetic, compared to other major schools.... :-/
Carry on.
I hear there is a great young female Head distance coach at FGCU in FT. Meyers, Fl. She is doing very good things on a very small budget. Someone would be smart to take a look at her.
What has FGCU done lately?
What's the word on Wyoming?

Is the Arizona assistant coach position still open?
Also who got hired for the Columbia and Dartmouth job?

Are you nuts? They have a bunch of 19:00-21:30 5k kids and finished 7th at there xc conf. meet. That is far from "very good things."

Shut up Randy
Anyone know about the San Francisco job?
half nuts, i think you should change your name to completely all the way nuts. the program at FGCU has improved considerably over the past few years. if you knew anything about cross country, track, coaches, injuries, athletes, conferences.etc., or anything else for that matter, you would know this. But i guess "half nuts" says it all.
