Who will come out ahead Senior German Fernandez, or Freshman Lukas Verzbicas? Fernandez has age and experience on his side, while Verzbicas has momentum and a perfect cross country record.

Luke V will more than likely finish among the top 10 while German will probably be somewhere between 10 to 15
The funny part is that Verzbicas is older than German.
Derrick and Puskedra both were top 5 as freshman, and Lukas is clearly better than they were. Problem is they are still racing so can he be better than them now? He will do better than German I think.

That is not at all true. I love how people just post random stuff they made up to prove a point.

Ritz was 4th, Kennedy 1st, and Goucher 2nd as frosh. Clearly someone on the level of LV can make top 5 if things work out for him.
Don't expect much from LV this XC season. Dude, broke a 4 minute mile and won the world junior triathlon. Now, indoor track, I think he'll be a monster but he needs rest. I wouldn't size him up this season. He's been competing a long time over the summer and into early fall.
I always disagree w/ compromising a XC season, when possible (not disagreeing w/ you). Along w/ the same-time high mileage training w/ it, getting strong & used to endurance racing a hilly, grassy, terrained 10K at 4:40 pace from August to November, is the best foundation for a May, June and maybe July track season. Just doing high-mpw is not always the same. It's becoming unreal now, how many college seniors have better track seasons than many of their future ones as pros. Some is race sharpness, act some is abandoning XC strength. This isn't w/o exceptions, but nothing's 100% proven in running.

I love how you people slam Koech, Aman, and Cheserek for being age cheats (they are), but turn a blind eye to Verzbicas. I'm sure the color of his skin has nothing to do with it.

Have you ever seen pics/videos of LV? The kid looks like he is 14 years old. Anyone who says he is older than his listed age is spouting pure and unadulterated idiocy.

Uh, Lithuania is not a third world country, so we know his age is accurate. As far as the age cheat thing, Lukas graduated high school in 3 years if you remember, so that he is the same age as everyone. So what is your point?
I'm not buying Lukas' age either. Way too fishy. This is another situation where an over-aged foreigner comes to the U.S. and enrolls in high school, beats up on high school kids, and gets a free ride to college. Solomon Haile did the same thing, have we forgotten already?
As far as Lukas looking "young", give me a break. I'm a 28 year old man who looks 12 whenever my beard is shaved off.
Remind me to bump this thread when LV retires at "25".
From Lukas V's twitter....
'First long run in a while, Oregon boys beat me up pretty hard in those 90 minutes. Also, first time ever in an ice bath is hell.'
I honestly just hope to see German get healthy and for LV to not burn out like GF did.
No way lukas gets top 5 not even top 10. He can't beat Sambu,Lalang,Korir,Estrada,Derrick, Chipangama, Mo Ahmed, Riley, etc.
top 20 at best

Wrong, dummy. Derrick was not top 5 as a freshman.

That's just stupid. He will be top 10, based on history of past phenoms top 5 is not unthinkable.

Correct! It's a second world country, though people born after 1989 often don't know what this means.
