I'll second that !!!
she doesn't even have the duke 1500 record
Anyone here watch the race? She did a solid job. But she got 5th. She would have outkicked Burka there? No chance in hell. She did great, but she was given a medal. She was given that medal.
Medal handed to her. In reality she's wasn't the 3rd best runner in that race. The medal was given to her and everybody knows it. I'm sure she'll take it anyway.
Rowbury stayed out of trouble, and came through strong. It sucks that pushing had to happen, but Rowbury knew how to stay out of it. When was the last time we had a women's mid-d medal?
She wasn't handed a medal, she earned that medal but running a great race strategy, staying out of trouble, and not cheating or breaking any rules. When Burka fell Rowbury slowed a bit, ruining her momentum, which she had to get back. You can say she was handed the medal, but she earned it fair and square!
Does anyone have a link with Rowbury on the podium?

This is like saying the Brits were just given that bronze in the 4x100 relay because the US wasn't there in the final, and we all know they weren't the third best team out there. Well, you have to follow the rules to be considered for the medals. Rodriguez didn't follow the rules. Could Rowbury have outkicked Burka? Who knows. Burka did look completely fried with 200 to go.
It is a shame the race went down the way it did. For Burka, for Rowbury, and for Rodriguez. The way she was able to accelerate at 200m to go, almost fall herself, get left behind, then reaccelerate and win the damn thing probably means she could have won it cleanly. Oh well, we'll never know.
Rowbury was clearly beaten by three runners.
Nobody prevented her from finishing in the top three.
Kind of hard to take that bronze.
Same with the Brits. They were lucky the US screwed up.
In both cases they were lucky not good.

No; that would be Christian Laettner.

Pretty sure she does.
Shannon ran a great race, put herself in the mix. For all you negative idiots, get a life! Luck is when preperation meets opportunity. She deserves the bronze.
SHANNON has probably worked harder than any female runner in US history after a serious injury that many thought was the end of her career. Not a lot of natural speed, she just wants it more than other athletes.
I'm not negative. I think finishing fourth is very positive for her.
Apparently she also feels like she finished fourth not third.
As you say, luck is when preperation meets opportunity.
That's a good way to put it. The combination of a DQ that had nothing to do with her combined with her oustanding performance, equals bronze.
It just doesn't feel the same as finishing third.
But, congrats are definately in order.
She didnt earn the bronze she doesnt deserve it.
Its not negativity. It is common sense. She came in 4th place but got the award of the 3rd place finisher.

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
