Am I the only one who is noticing all of the hip numbers that have fallen off during this meet? It happens at other meets, but for crying out loud! Someone invent something that actually sticks to track unis!

They come flying off in seconds. Why even bother?
Perhaps Berlino is scooping them up to sell on e-Bay.
BOLT HIP NUMBER RARE AAAA++++
..etc..
Is it really even needed? It is an antiquated system. So are the numbers pinned to the front. There has got to be a better system.
Hate to bring Triathlon into this, but for their main GP circuit, they has strict specifications as to their uniforms. It allows for the athletes name, country and sponsors. Maybe for these WC, the IAAF should do something similar.
The only place pinned numbers might make sense in in the deca and hep. They had the leader where a bib that said 'Leader'. It would be an issue with the women, with the small tops and bun huggers.

Looking at it from an officials perspective:
With all of the situations happening during races, such as people falling, cutting someone off, etc., the numbers are needed. The uniforms for some countries are so similar to each other. You can't just say, oh the guy in red should be disqualified if three are wearing red. If you can say the guy with hip number 5 or bib number 4377 should be disqualified, then everyone knows who it is.
How can they work of an official if the hip numbers are on the track and not on hte hip of the intended athlete?
