The race will need to be fast in the middle like the olympics or Kipsiro might win a tactical 13:15 type race.
If Teg shows up he will beat lagat and most of the field but may have trouble getting a medal.

it is time to take KB down!
This race will need to be fast from the start.However bekele seems to be in supreme form and non of those guys is anywhere near him at the moment.If the race is fast i think a few guys will end up doing very very well:-
Tegenkamp
Mo farah
Kipsiro
Kipchoge
Those 4 looked very good to me.The ones who were not convincing were:-
Lagat
Ebuya
Chepkok
Kwalia
The rest are just there to fill up numbers.
If the race is fast Teg can try to hang on but he will get dropped just like Ritz in the 10k. He may pick off guys who drop back and get 4th-6th, but no medal. In a slow race though he could nab silver.
Bekele will take no chances and run the last 2k in 5:00. Actually, come to think of it, that means Teg really won't have a shot. He did well in 2007 because it was a Lagat-style race.
But Kipsiro can handle the 5:00 last 2k. He is nasty man. He will definitely challenge Bekele in any type of race. Bekele will have to make it fast, becaue Kipsiro can kick or drive home with anyone I think.
Kipsiro = very good
Bekele = G.O.A.T.

I get that. Which is why if Bekele makes it fast, he will win. If it is some stupid slow affair though, Kipsiro can close and kick just as fast and will challenge Bekele. Will he win? I have no idea, probably not. But he'll definitely challenge. Shit, he'll challenge in a fast race, too, at least moreso than anybody else.

Um, how should I put this. Kipsiro will not medal.

I'd say pre race diarrhea is at least on the same threat level, if not higher, as Kipsiro is to Kenenisa.

I don't think so. In beijing, he got dropped coming on the last lap. Bekele pushed it with 2k to go. Everyone is going to expect that. I guarantee that he's going to push it with 3k to go. No one is going to want to go with him that early. And those that do will fade badly.
Predictions:
Kenenisa Bekele: 12:47 (C.R)
Kipchoge: 12:50
Kipsiro : 12:52
Anything can happen though.
Only KB is in 12.50 shape. He will win unless it is a slow race until the last lap. He can push with 2K to go or take it
out fast. Just give him the gold medal.
This will be just like the Olympics. Bekele will take the lead and start squeezing out 60s with 5-6 laps to go. Lagat will get dropped 6-800 to go. Kipchoge will hang to the bell and then get beat by 5-6 seconds on the last lap.
Teg's only hope for a medal is if they hit 4k in 11:00, and there is no way Bekele is going to let that happen with Lagat in the race. Granted, I think Bekele can beat Lagat off any pace right now, but Bekele's chances of winning go from 95% to 100% if the race is under 13:05.
Kipsoro is a threat. Lagat is next
Kipsiro will smack Bekele, he looks like a copy of Isaac Songkok in shape.

I think you're wrong factoid. I honestly don't see how Kipsiro does NOT medal. Unless he has a serious injury during the final. He's in such good shape right now, running fast off very slow opening paces, controlling the pace as he sees fit. Did you see him in Monaco? He bitch slapped that field in the 3k, and that was his first race of the year. He's clearly better than he was in 2007 when he took the bronze off our boy Teg. I think he takes Silver and will be well clear of the Bronze medalist.

Bekele's only problem is the fatigue from his 10k race but other regardless, he'll win it easily.
I wasn't particularly impressed by Kipchoge. He seemed to labour in the final 100m. I'll have to say;
1. Bekele
2. Kipsiro
3. Kipchoge
