With all the guys turning up positive for performance enhancing drugs, it's starting to make Fred McGriff look a little better...a LOT better actually. I'm not so sure that a "disproportionate" number of Latinos have tested positive. The percentage of MLB that is now Latino is quite high and getting higher.

As nonchalant and weird in general playing professional baseball as he is, I would actually believe it if he said he didn't know what he was taking.

Not a stimulant. Under the MLB policy, stimulants get counseling for first offense, 25 games for second offense. 50 games is for steroids or similar.

Manny will never admit it. He's one of the biggest narcissists in baseball. Once again, the Red Sox part ways with a guy just before he becomes a major liability. They seem to have a knack for unloading guys at the right time (Garciaparra, Damon, Pedro, Manny, etc...).

Canseco may be an obnoxious schmuck, but he has been right on this issue. Of course, it's a lot easier to come clean after you're out of the game.

Gammons is simply reporting Manny's explanation. He has no independent source that it wasn't steriods. Get your head out of your ass.

At least not on the baseball diamond. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the substance is supposed to boost sex drive. It is not Viagra, but a substance that treats the cause rather providing a temporary boost in sexual performance, the source said.

Ramirez tested positive for the substance during spring training, then was administered a second test more recently, and it also was positive. Major League Baseball notified Ramirez of the second positive test after Wednesday night’s Dodgers victory over the Washington Nationals. Ramirez admitted to having taken the substance and declined to appeal. His 50-game suspension begins today.

It is similar to Clomid, the drug Bonds, Giambi and others used as clients of BALCO."

If that turns out to be true, then all this crap about sex-drive is just Manny's version of "oral sex with my menstruating wife...drank Jack Daniels the night before...the mysterious unborn twin." We can add this to the list seen here:

You can spend just a couple of minutes at any bodybuilding website and learn why HCG is used.

They can't do that. Lance Armstrong is allowed to race his two wheel bicycle and run marathons all he wants and take PEDs. There's precedent. Manny should be allowed the same rights.

Yeah...right! A source close to Manny??? Like maybe a member of his posse who's flacking for him? And Manny's not going to appeal to at least get the suspension reduced? 50 games is costing him almost $8 million.

The way MLB is treating Manny is outrageous. Tiger Woods, Williams sisters, Lance Armstrong, Nick Symmonds, etc. are so obviously doped. The NHL, NFL, USATF, MMA, WWE, etc. all look away. MLB is just putting on a show for Congress by making an example out of Manny who is in L.A. the world capital of media and entertainment. Red Sox have made some wise dumps, but Damon has been solid last 1.5 years, Derek Lowe, Roger Clemens, and many other former Sox over the years have been solid or even better.
