No that's why the call it "mono".
Mono is caused by Epstein-Barr Virus(EBV). Doctor can tell if it's EBV.
After you have been infected with EBV, the virus stays in your body for the rest of your life, and you will not get mono again.
If you have similar symptoms later in life, it is not mono.
I don't know about getting mono again, but you will probably be more susceptible to getting run down by heavy training loads.

Why?
2 viruses can give you mononucleosis- Ebstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). Most (80-90% of cases) are EBV. Once you are infected with either, it is always with you but it never is a problem again, unless you get severely depressed immunity later in life (organ transplant, advanced HIV, etc) when it can reactivate. Infection with CMV does not protect against EBV, and vice versa. So you still can get mono again, if you've only had it once (although most people are exposed to CMV when they are kids, so are now immune).
Ok. understood - thank you.
Now is what 'water rat' said true about training??
Even after having mono, you can have similar symptoms at a later date. I had once then tested positive for EBV about 18 months later after being sick for a few days and getting blood work done. I actually had worse symptoms when it was just EBV (fevers, night chills, nausea, etc.) then when I actually had mono itself (sleep all the time). It can "come out of remission," if you get too run down. Its important to make sure you get good and consistent sleep, stay hydrated, and eat healthy if you want to avoid EBV from ravaging your training again if you have already had mono.
