Race Walking is not a sport and it does not belong in Track and Field to say the least! The only college division that has it is the NAIA (Why?) and it makes a mockery of Track!

m8te, race walking certainly is a sport
respect
I think race walking should be its own stand alone sport let them do what they want but not in TRACK AND FIELD... someone pointed out the numer 8 girl at the NAIA Nationals only can run 21 for a 5k ... thats not an athlete

Well then prove your point dont just say respect... why?
A bunch of washed up runners want some respect ... prove your point

Racewalking: an athletic contest to determine who can whisper loudest.

have you looked at their times they are really not good no where near the US times for even making our nationals... so you really think some NAIA girl ranked 8th can beat some dude in 20k walk
At my school there is a girl who was a three time all-american last year in the 1000,Mile, and outdoors 1500 and she works really really fricken hard. She puts me to shame. We have one walker who literally eats french fries daily is prob 10 lbs overweight she has been to nats like 5 times for walking and will prob be all-american this year she never comes to practice and never ever works hard, never lifts just walks she runs like 23:00 in cross so ... there is some validity to the walkers are not athletes.
Also I heard walking is out in the NAIA anyone know
any walkers out there wanna defend yourself
I have a friend she is a race walker and is a runner in the 17:30 range 5K. A former CA HS stand-out XC runner.
i respect topless darts players more than walkers
I suppose walking could be considered a sport, and requires technique and training and all that........but every time I see a 3K race walk at a meet or whatever, I just have to laugh. it's so ridiculous.

Learn to use the "search" function dumbf***
I checked out the NAIA championship results to see what kind of times the ladies ran in the 5k. Decided to look at the marathon results also. Was surprised to see the winner was fairly close to qualifying for the trials. Then I noticed she missed the championship record by .69 seconds, man, heartbreak for her surely.

I notice that a lot of you are mainly bashing the sport because of the girls. I wonder if the reason you don't bring up the guys is because some of them can beat your fat over-weight lazy a$$e$ in a 3k.
As for the Racewalk being tossed out of the NAIA, I sat in on the meeting last year, we voted on it for the last time they said. It's staying in until there is a reason to drop it *(like DII adding the racewalk, which I've been hearing quite a lot lately!). So quit trying to start things by saying its going to be dropped.
Peter Muldoon the Irish Walker for VIC has run in the mid to uppper 16's for a 5k while back in Ireland. Not only has he won nationals almost 20x for juniors back in Ireland, he was also a top region runner for juniors. Not all walkers are what you would say "non-athletes". It is a totally different technique and requires different muscles and strengths than running, as well as tons more flexibility. They may not be top level runners, but we are also not world class walkers.
usatf/iaaf has it. they dq'ed someone at usa indoors on sunday for picking up her feet too much.
Hey, we have a 60 meter hurdler and he can't break 6:00 for the mile. What kind of sport is 60 meter hurdling?
Get rid of it!
It's like trying to whisper with braces on.
(Translated for those of you with braces on: its wike twying to wispwer wif bwaces on)
