Hey, i was just wondering if endurox excel/enduroxr4 is LEGAL, but more importantly SAFE. And also if it's even worth buying or if there's anoter sports drink/ vitamin thats worth buying and safe.

a friend of mine used it a few years back. She won a national title and her drug test came back clean.
she's also still alive and as smart as she was before, so I believe it would be a safe bet.
Even though the previous poster answered your question, a really recent study has shown an equal if not greater recovery from drinking chocolate milk instead of a typical recovery drink. I am not 100% positve, but I believe Endurox was in the study with the chocolate milk. It is also a lot cheaper that way too.

you know, i've tried the choc milk idea, and it does work. however, when i go for a 2 hour long run on the trails that i have to drive to, leaving a bottle of endurox in the car won't spoil. (i suppose i could buy a cooler and a frozen ice pack though...).
since february, i have been trying new experiment. my workouts are on monday-wednesday afternoons.
i've found something that works really well:
2 peanut butter and jelly (sometimes honey) sandwiches with 1 orange and 2 water bottles.
i am recovering very quickly. sometimes i have 1 bottle of endurox and 1 bottle of water to go with it. cheap and effective. i buy it all at costco.
sounds good, but... wrote:

your costco sells endurox?
When did Costco start selling Endurox? This is huge. Which Costco did you get it at?
You guys need to take in some whey protein with a 50/50 mix of maltodextrin/dextrose(glucose). This has been proven to give the best recovery. To get nearly the same effect, whey protein with some gatorade (electrolytes). The best type of whey is hydrolysate (hits the muscles the fastest and keeps amino levels elevated). BCAA's will help even further. Whole food just takes too long to hit the muscles for recovery.

Yeah, but let me just suggest you keep a real close eye on yr weight if you switch. I dunno what the prevalence is of lactose intolerance or milk allergies or whatever the hell, but I'm pretty sure going to chocolate milk three weeks ago is what bloated me up by 4-5 pounds. Haven't had any since Sun (replaced my empty Endurox in the meantime) and those pounds finally melted off some time between Mon and Wed.
I didn't notice any other symptoms, and I'm not 100% sure it was the milk just yet - but it's sure looking likely.
Agree with most of this. As far as I know, a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein has proved most effective for recovery. Look at the study done by Dr. Ivy at UT. Also the carb component should be composed of both glucose and fructose - your body has both glucose and fructose transporters that move glucose from your digestive tract into your cells. If you only take in glucose, the fructose transporters go unused, decreasing the speed at which the sugar is delivered to your muscle cells. BCAA's are not completely proven effective, but most studies show some benefit.
As far as I know, endurox R4 has exactly this. Not sure about the sugars it contains.

If I drank milk, regular of lowfat after I ran, I'd have so many back blasts from my stomach I'd have to register with homeland security. Endurox is quick and easy with no after affects.

"proven"???
Care to share the reference?
Legal is not the same as banned. The product is perfectly legal.
If you want to know if it is banned by USADA or not, there is a number to call 1.800.233.0393. Better to ask them than a bunch of people posting on the internet.
Safe? Even a different question.
In short, there is no reason that R4 would be banned or not safe.
You do know what's in Endurox right?:
Ingredients: Glucose, Complex Carbohydrates, Whey Protein Concentrate, Crystalline Fructose, Citric Acid, L-Arginine, Natural Flavors, Ciwujia, D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, L-Glutamine, Magnesium Oxide, Paprika (natural color), Potassium Phosphate, Lecithin.
The only ingredient that has "reported" benefits is the ciwujia root, a chinese herb. Hocus pocus. Carbs, protein, vitamins. Why would it be illegal? That's right...it...doesn't...do...anything. Eat food, that does something. It's your money to waste.

your costco sells endurox?
no, sorry. i guess i should re-phrase the statement, i can see where it is misleading! i buy all the food at costco, but the endurox i buy at a local sports supplement store for $28+ tax for the large cannister.
sorry to get everyone's hopes up!
but, what if we sent a mass email to costco asking for endurox/ accelerade to be carried there? would that work?
Thanks for the explanation, I'll calm down now!
Alan, your a dumbass
Maybe thats why you havent improved over the past 5 years. You cant recover properly.
LOL
A big ass bowl of oatmeal mixed with a handful of walnuts and a glass of OJ and you'll recover from death in no time.
Actually the ciwujia root has not been used in Endurox since 2003. But the convenience of Endurox as a liquid recovery drink makes it useful. Your body absorbs liquids much more quickly than solid food.

Alan's not a dumbass. I think he's one of the better posters on here. I also agree with him on this topic. I did quite a bit of research on this a few years ago and the results were iffy at best. Things may have changed since then but as far as I could figure "plain old food" works as well as anything commercial, generally tastes better, and is less expensive. And being a true science guy, I bought some Endurox and tried it myself (yes, I know that's not a double blind test). I experienced no enhanced recovery compared to real food or a homemade recovery drink.
Endurox is little more than water, sugar, whey protein, and vitamins (and some very good marketing). There's no reason for it to be banned. But hey, like Alan said, it's your money so if you want to use it go right ahead. You won't fail any tests.

There is no reference. It is not "proven". It is merely one of countless baseless claims thrown out on this forum
