Anybody from the Minneapolis area know Sue Johnson? She's credited with winning the WWM in 3:29, in the 20-29 age group. If you know her, ask her if she ran the race.

The above links to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundations web site, which is a legitimate charity worthy of your support. The problem was that on Kip's web site he was soliciting donors to direct funds directly to his web site World Record Run instead of to CFF. Were all the donations forwarded to CFF? Who knows? His web site is down now so if there were any shenanigans going on, they would have ended.
another interesting note is the dates when those race files were created:
Dec 24 - if i were a depressed person or someone who run a business and needed to find one day whre i had time to sit down at the computer to do this - the day before Chrismas is a pretty interesting one - the office would probably be closed...
and again depression around the holiday for some people occurs.
If the person is really psychotic - a revenge factor also comes into play - the need to want to get back at or prove people wrong...which might lead one to make-up races. That is better than sitting around stewing over being caught - since you have to wait a while to race again - at least a race you have to plan out to the specs he needs (different states, etc).

Not the typical actions of a psychotic person. More likely indicative of a personality disorder. Of course diagnosing somebody takes a lot more than speculation from an internet thread. Psychotic people usually lack the long term planning and mental organization (executive function) skills something like this would take.

That's bizarre. The 4 claimed results other than Litton's are all in lower case in the athlinks results list. The remaining entries, all unclaimed, are all in proper case.
I'm fairly certain that they would have heard about this (at least I hope so), but just in case, I emailed them to let them know that he's been disqualified for cheating in some races, and is the subject of a lot of speculation in others. Before anyone tells me to not harass him/jeapordize the thread, let me just say that if I was in the business of soliciting funds, I'd rather not be prominently featuring a cheater on my web site. They can do what they want with the heads up, but they can't claim ignorance when/if this jumps from blogs/message boards to print media, calls for returning winnings, etc.

Another interesting thing to note, joel hernandez has two other races claimed, both in may 2007:
Brentwood Run 2007 5/27/07 — Brentwood, CA / Time-1:22:51 / Pace-13:20 per mile / Age-39
2Nd Annual Run The Block Of Orange 5K 5/5/07 — Orange, CA / Time-50:31 / Pace-16:15 per mile/ Age-39
Notice that in 2007 he was running VERY slow and is listed at age 39, yet in 2010 (at the possibly fictitious WWM) he runs 7:18 pace for a marathon and is listed at age 40. Funny how he only aged 1 year from 2007 to 2010 and went from a 50min 5k to a 3:11 marathon in that time. Looks to me like whoever made the "joel hernandez" profile just claimed a few older races so that the WWM wouldn't be his only one.

I also checked the results to the Sandy Springs Half Marathon, in Atlanta Georgia, where Kip supposedly ran a 1:20:44.
Like the WW Marathon, all claimants' names are in lower case (the only ones in the list) and all claimants registered to Athlinks at the same time.
