The Clifton 4’s have a smooth cloud like ride. They make paved road running much more doable. Light enough to get in some good tempo runs and sturdy enough with cushioning to plug away at some easy mileage. I personally love these shoes. I wish they’d last a bit longer but I guess 500 miles and then wearing them around a lot is pretty good.
I recommend to anyone with a neutral foot and even someone who who needs mild support will suffice.
I've never worn a HOKA shoe before, but Running Warehouse had a sale on the Clifton 4s, so I had to try them out. I started reading reviews after I bought them (oops) so was expecting the shoe to disappoint. I tried out the pair on my next long run and instantly liked them (albeit the first couple of steps were a little different since I was landing on the rocker I think). In my previous pair of shoes I always felt flat. I feel fresher at the end of runs with these shoes so far. I would never do anything fast in them (tempos or anything faster) because it doesn't pop.
Since I began running in Hoka's I have had no issues with what was a perpetual problem with my achilles.
Really like them, they completely changed my running. Before then I was in a pair of Under Armour shoes and constantly getting sore knees. Had these professionally fitted and I will be always buying Hoka’s. They are extremely cushioned but feel very stable and quick to run in. Great for any distance.
I have run in the Hoka Clifton 4’s for the past three years and the only thing I would change about them is the bulkiness. I do love the cushion it’s just not great for speed! Love it as my trainers though.
Clifton 4 has been my favorite shoes I’ve ever run in. Comfortable and responsive on all surfaces!
The Hoka Clifton 4 has been a long time favorite of mine. It’s versatility and comfort make it in ideal choice for a high mileage runner who incorporates regular speed work, or a runner who deals with running related foot pain. Unfortunately, I have occasionally had some issues with the sides tearing out pretty early in the shoe’s life. This is a frustrating problem, but not a problem unique to Hoka - I have had several other models from different companies reach similar fates. I highly recommend the Clifton 4.
I find this shoe to have slightly less cushioning than my two previous pairs. I am not disappointed. They are well constructed, look good and are comfortable on long runs. They, however, are not as cushy as previous pairs...
Good shoe for the long haul for the road. Used it a few times on the trail, which were not a good experience but this is my fault and not the shoe fault.
I love these shoes. I am getting on in years and have been running for 60 years or more. I know feel the need for some extra cushioning and Hoka certainly give that and extra confidence to carry on running.
Good firm cushioning, heavier than previous cliftons, more of a long run, everyday shoe than previous models, but good everyday trainer.
