This was the first pair of running shoes that I absolutely beat up so I caution that some of this might be based on nostalgia but good lord these shoes have been good to me. I wore them for everything from track work to long runs to 10k road races. I absolutely loved everything about them and they saved my legs from stupid mileage increases. My pair has well over 500 miles in then and I still pull them out for special occasions. I really hope hoka makes these available again because compared to the clifton 6 which I use now this shoe was phenomenal.

This is my go to trainer for everyday running. It has a super smooth ride with a lot of cushion and bounce. Long runs, easy days, this is the shoe. The upper and tongue are meh but don't negatively affect my experience with the shoe.

I am a high school cross country and track athlete who runs about 50 mi per week. I have tried many Hoka, New Balance, and Nike shoes, and the Clifton 1 is my favorite daily trainer. I love the versatility of this shoe from long runs to tempos, and anything in between, this shoe can handle it all. Please Hoka just keep making this shoe!

This shoe is the best everyday training shoe for the everyday to the higher status athlete!! Prefect for all runs (long/short/tempo/workout) . Very propulsive and can even double as a racing flat - especially in the longer distances!!

I had several pair of the original Clifton and really liked them. I could not wear any of the other versions. The relaunch of the Clifton 1 is not really the same but it is close enough that I bought 3 pair. The cushioning is just a bit different but I like it. It seems to feel more responsive. I am now a slow jogger due to a back issue that will never heal up and these shoes are nice to run in. They are comfortable and seem to hold up well. I also have a pair of original Clifton 1 that are new even though they are a few years old in the box. I put one of each on my feet and you can tell there is a slight difference but I would hope they would keep the new Clifton 1 in the line up. I started wearing Hoka in August of 2014 and the Hoka today are nothing like the originals like the Stinson ATR original. None of the other versions are as soft etc.

Started running in the Clifton 2's and bought the retro 1's when they were reintroduced. Love the cushioning, minimal weight and roomy toe box.

The Hoka Clifton 1 not only looks like a pillow, but feels like it too. It has enough cushioning for long training runs, while still being light enough for faster work. The Clifton 1 is the best running shoe I've worn to date, but at the end of the day is still just a shoe. There will be hotspots, blisters, etc. but for a shoe that lets you go both long and fast, you can't do much better.
