Grant Fisher Runs 12:44.09 to Shatter 50000m World Record of Kenenisa Bekele

Another race, another world record for American Grant Fisher.

Fisher, the Nike athlete who won two bronze medals at the 2024 Olympics, continued his incredible 2025 season as he ran 12:44.09 for 5000m to shatter Kenenisa Bekele’s previous world indoor record of 12:49.60 from 2004.

Fisher’s run came 6 days after he ran 7:22.91 to break the world indoor 3000m record at the Millrose Games.

Grant Fisher now has two current world records to his name and the legendary Bekele has none as this was his final world record on the books. Jimmy Gressier of France was second in a European record of 12:54.92.
