It’s time to announce the most prestigious team for Worlds – Team LetsRun.com – the winners of the $200,022 USAs Prediction Contest.

A Brit Wins out USAs Contest

We had to make sure this was legal, but after consulting with our own Jonathan Gault who is half British, we are proud to announce the overall winner of our USA’s prediction contest is John Greig, from Teddington, London. He’s 56 and an 800 m runner. He lives near Bushy Park which is a mecca for runners in the summer as he’s seen Sonia O’Sullivan, Mo Farah, Helen Obiri, Chris Thompson, Craig Mottram and Stewy McSweyn run past.  John runs for St Marys Richmond AC which trains at the Mo Farah Track.

John’s got a corporate job, but in addition to helping coach and officiating with his club, he has started a small business with his local physio clinic to help runners.  They’re installing an altitude chamber with the help of Charlie Grice and a LightSpeed Lift anti-gravity system. You can check it all out here: https://www.racebib.co.uk/

Of course, the reason John won the contest is because he’s a LetsRun.com Supporters Club member. The 2 letsrun podcasts a week got him educated on US running more than the rest of you.  His username on letsrun is sovietvest, which is a tribue to the Soviet Union vest that Steve Ovett wore for some of his best races.

One of the Guys Behind THE Study on Supershoes was Runner-up

The runner-up was Dustin Joubert. If the name sounds familiar it’s because he’s one of the professors behind the SuperShoe study that showed some brands super shoes aren’t up to stuff.

Dustin was a professor at Stephen F Austin when he did the study, he’ll be starting at St. Edwards University in Austin this fall. A former runner at Sam Houston State University (15:20 5k pr) where he had chronic achilles issues, he’s now a “low mileage runner dad now with dreams of still running fast.” He did run a 2:49 marathon on less than 25 miles per week in December. Pretty impressive. For the record he wore Alphaflys. As for his strategy in the contest, stick with the favorites. “Upsets are overrated,” he said.

Our third placer wishes to stay anonymous. Since that is a calling card for our running forum, we’ll let him remain anonymous. He’s a former NCAA runner and current NCAA coach.

It’s now time to turn our attention to Worlds and our $200,022 Coros Prediction Contest. You’ve got until 8:15 pm eastern on Friday to get your picks in.
